This piece is what is known as a double spread, where two pages have one image printed over both pages. It’s the kind of like the first poster of the series, and is done in color to catch readers’ attention and set up the mood of the rest of the series.

This piece is the first page of one of the two series I am illustrating for the magazine I co-founded. It’s meant to set up the premise for the series Meir Katz, which is about a Jewish Cowboy who tries to win the title of Best of the West. The rest of the series will be mostly in black and white for time reasons, so this first page is a way to garner interest in the series for first time readers.
